Lenten Small Groups

Lenten Small Groups

The Lord’s Prayer
Weeks of February 18 – April 1

This Lenten season, we will seek to find genuine community through the words of Jesus coupled with prayer, discussion and a sharing of life. We will focus on The Lord’s Prayer, the prayer for God’s people that Jesus offered as our model for prayer. You are invited to join one of our formed Lenten Communities of Belonging or invite one of your current small groups to use our study guide. The groups will use a guide that is based upon questions and answers in the PCUSA’s The Study Catechism, written by some of the best theologians in the Presbyterian Church about twenty years ago.  The questions are pertinent to The Lord’s Prayer, and the answers provide a solid Christian theology of prayer and the Christian life. We hope that these studies combined with group discussions will be meaningful times to contemplate scripture and to build community, strengthening old friendships and forming new ones.  Click here to learn more about our Communities of Belonging initiative.

Daily Lenten Devotion Curriculum

Click here to view our Daily Lenten Devotion, Through the Lord’s Prayer: A Lenten Journey, that we will be studying over these six weeks. This little book, written for and by the members and friends of our church, will provide a short, daily touchpoint on the Lord’s Prayer during the 40 days of Lent. Each week in Parish News, we will include that week’s reflection for you to read and reflect on.

Lenten Small Group Options

The groups will meet once a week from February 18- April 1. Many existing communities (Bible studies, Sunday School classes, etc) within our church have picked up this study and, as before, new groups have formed to convene in homes and locations in the Nashville area at different times throughout the week.  The new and existing small groups forming are listed below.  If you don’t see a time/day that works for you and you are interested in leading/hosting a group OR if you have an existing community group that would like to adopt the curriculum for this study, click here and let us know. To register for one of the new Lenten small groups, fill out the form at the bottom of this page.
