The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.
2 Corinthians 9:6–8
Dear friends,
Great is the Lord and worthy to be praised! In a year when we continue to be challenged by the pandemic, we give thanks for the enduring love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Just as the Lord held fast a pastor, six women, and one man who established First Presbyterian Church Nashville, then called “Old First,” he continues to hold us fast. The hard work and faithfulness of these seven founding members in 1785 have provided for us the opportunity to be faithful and responsible caretakers of First Presbyterian Church today.
As we celebrate together the Lord’s provision in 2021, let us now look forward together to the launch of the 2022 Generosity/Stewardship campaign. Our theme verse for this year comes from 2 Corinthians 9:6–8, which encourages us as a church family to sow bountifully, not sparingly, unto the Lord. For those unaware of our budgeting process, know that your pledge/estimate provides necessary guidance into planning the 2022 budget. In the last five years, the church’s annual budget has seen only a slight increase, so we are hopeful in the coming year to increase our budget to address some of the following needs:
- Provide adequate financial resources to recruit and retain top-notch staff.
- Increase funding for discipleship and mission
- Enhance longstanding and newer programs—particularly those born out of necessity during the pandemic.
Please complete the pledge form below or print this pledge/estimate of giving card and drop it in the mail.
We do understand that personal finances can change, especially in these uncertain times, so your pledge/estimate of giving can be adjusted as circumstances dictate.
Finally, we ask that you pray: for your financial commitment, for our future mission as a church, and for guidance on how God may be calling you to participate in the life of FPC. From 1785 to the present, the mission of FPC has remained the same: to live and give our lives for Christ and the common good.
Yours, in Christ,
Ryan Moore, Pastor
