Bill Mott, Director of Resource Development

In 2022, FPC welcomed Bill Mott on staff to serve as Director of Resource Development, a new staff position for generosity. His development work will focus on planned giving, major gifts, and our annual generosity campaign. He has been involved in development work for much of his career. This includes serving as a Director of Development at Vanderbilt University and as the Head of School at three different independent schools, including BGA in Franklin. In addition, he has consulted with churches, independent schools, and universities on all types of fundraising programs.
Bill, and his wife Courtney, have been members of First Presbyterian for over 35 years. He has served as both Deacon and Elder, taught Sunday School classes, served on the board of Oak Hill School, chaired numerous committees over the years including the Officer Nominating Committee and Stewardship Committee. Bill and Courtney have two grown children, Robert and Courtney Leigh, both of whom grew up in the church and were active in children and youth programs. He is the author of three books on governance and leadership and holds a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University.
