Carol McClure, Director of Children & Youth Choirs

Carol McClure, BA, MCM, alumna of the University of Louisville and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary School of Church Music (choral conducting, harp performance), enjoys a multifaceted career as children’s music educator, conductor, composer, concert and recording artist and university faculty member.

Carol’s conducting experience includes service as choral director at Queen’s Park Baptist Church in Glasgow, Scotland, Director of Music and Arts at North Decatur Presbyterian Church, Decatur, Georgia, as well as her current work with the children’s choirs at FPC. Nationally known for her compositions and arrangements for children’s voices as well as for her workshop and conference leadership, she is Children’s Music Editor for St. James Music Press (SJMP) and creator of the SJMP children’s choir curriculum Viva Voce.

In her "other" life, Carol, whose harp teacher-mentors included Marcel Grandjany and Mildred Dilling, is Artistic Director of The Harp School, Inc., professor at the University of Louisville, Indiana University SE and Union University, and, along with her husband, composer and arranger Wes Ramsay, serves as Area Representative of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), London.

Carol believes that singing in a choir should be an integral experience in the life of every child, as it was for her two children, Susannah, an MSN graduate of Vanderbilt University, and Parker, Organ Scholar at King’s College, University of Cambridge.

Carol lives with her husband, and her border collies (all Scottish names) and cats (Glissando and Arpeggio) on a small farm in Dickson County, Tennessee.
