Camper Information

The theme of Camp Watermelon 2024 is “Miracles in the Upside Down Kingdom.” We will explore four of the miracles of Jesus while also looking at what he tells us in the Beatitudes about what it is to be blessed.

Monday: “Calming the Storm: What are you afraid of?”  (Mark 4 and Matthew 8)
Tuesday: “Feeding the 5000: What are you hungry for?” (Matthew 14, Mark 6, and Luke 9)
Wednesday: “Healing at the Pool: Do you want to get well?” (John 5: 1-16)
Thursday: “Lazarus: Can sad things be untrue?” (John 11: 1-44)

Camp Hours

Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

What to Bring

  • A towel, goggles, and whatever your camper may need to swim.
  • A lunch, but please no nuts due to allergies.
  • A water bottle to refill when necessary.
  • Please label belongings with your camper's name.

Horse Barn

Your campers will get to be at the barn for a one-hour rotation during their camp week. The barn is managed by the TEAM-FPC equine ministry staff, led by Curt Stacy. While at the barn, campers will have the opportunity to ride, to learn to care for the horses, to learn to lasso, and to run some barrel races on foot. Curt is amazing with children, and I have every confidence that this will be a fun camp highlight for the campers!

Pool

  • Each group will have the chance to get wet every day, either in the pool or on the slip and slide. We will be using the FPC pool during every rotation, but with 6 rotations and 9 groups, there will be a day that some groups don’t make it to the pool. On those days the campers will definitely go to the slip and slide.
  • We have a certified lifeguard to watch the pool during camp hours, and only one group will be in the pool at a time.
  • Please let me know if you have concerns about your camper in the water. They will take a swim test before they get in the water on Monday.
  • Send floaties if you anticipate that your swimmer will need them. Lots of our younger swimmers do!  We also have several lifejackets available at camp.

Medications

Please let us know if your child has an inhaler, epi pen, or has any other potential medicinal need during the day. Jenny Camp is in charge of health needs at camp and will be running point on medications and communicating with you if your child has a health-related need during the day.

Drop Off & Pick up

  • Please see the attached map for clear instructions on how to enter and exit the FPC campus in a way that will efficiently accommodate traffic volume.
  • For morning drop off, please form one line (as indicated on the map) and a counselor will greet your camper and get him or her settled. You may exit the campus into the neighborhood behind the church afterwards. The gate will be locked after morning carpool. Please do not enter this gate in the morning or the afternoon due to traffic patterns. We are using it as an exit only.
  • For afternoon pick up, please form two lines as indicated on the map. Park your cars and keep engines off while all the cars in the loading zone are being loaded with campers. When the entire group of cars is loaded, we will signal you to turn engines on and exit the campus out the back gate just like you did at drop off.
