The heartbeat of First Presbyterian Church’s family is the worship of Almighty God. Worship is our response to who God is and what God has done for us in Jesus Christ.
The heartbeat of First Presbyterian Church’s family is the worship of Almighty God.
Worship is our response to what God has done for us in Jesus Christ. Traditional worship services are celebrated Sundays at 8:30 and 11:00 A.M. in the Sanctuary. Our pastors engage our minds and hearts with the Word from the pulpit. They are rooted in the Reformed tradition, biblical in shape and substance, and centered in the grace of God revealed in Jesus Christ. We have choirs for children and adults that lead us in singing praise to God in our worship services. Sunday mornings from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. are bustling with opportunities for all ages to experience God’s Word and the Christian life. We invite you — adults, youth, and children — to join us for Sunday School.
The basic order of our services remains largely the same each week, yet within that familiar framework there is variety and innovation. Presbyterian worship seeks to express something of the majesty and wonder of God, drawing from 2,000 years of rich traditions of Christian worship and liturgy. Our services, through praise, prayer, song, sermon, and sacrament (baptism and communion), seek to worship God with the dignity and reverence due to him, and yet to do so with the warmth and joy that Jesus Christ brings to life. We trust that our website will answer any questions you may have, and that you can find a place in the rich and varied worship life of our church family.
The 8:30 service is also livestreamed for those who are unable to join in person.
Baptism is the sacrament that unites us with Jesus Christ and makes us members of God’s family, the Church.
The Lord's Supper enacts and seals what the Word proclaims.
Flowers in worship are a tangible expression of our gratitude and reverence for God’s ongoing work of creation.
Acolytes assist in worship in lighting candles and other worship duties.
Glorifying God with a tradition of musical excellence.
Nurturing children through the active praising and worshiping of God.
Faithful and enriching worship leadership experience for young musicians.
The beauty of our liturgical style of worship invites children at all developmental levels to encounter the triune God.
Worship is the heartbeat of our church life at First Presbyterian, and we believe this is true for church members of all ages. The beauty of our liturgical style of worship invites children at all developmental levels to encounter the triune God. The rhythms of liturgy bring in familiar elements each week, allowing children to have a sense of what to expect, while varying songs and prayers engage them in different ways each week.
A worship service with the sounds of children is a good thing! Children of all ages are always welcome to worship alongside their church family in the Sanctuary. We also offer options for specific age levels to frame their worship experience in a developmentally appropriate way.
