Glorifying God with a tradition of musical excellence
The Music Ministry of First Presbyterian Church of Nashville glorifies God with a tradition of musical excellence in worship, education, and outreach.
Worship is the primary task of the Christian church, the central gathering of the community of faith for repentance, forgiveness, proclamation, service, and celebration. As Presbyterians, we believe that only our best should be offered to God. This tradition commands us to prepare for worship with materials of the highest possible quality.
First Presbyterian Church has a long and distinguished tradition of musical excellence in worship. Our music ministry, which is open to all, has grown and prospered with a strong classically oriented program. We offer music that engages the mind, touches the heart, and opens the worshiper to encounter God. Our program includes music of the 21st century as well as music that speaks of our Christian tradition and heritage. We seek to offer the best of contemporary experiences, in the classical tradition.
The music ministry includes education in scripture and tradition, providing opportunities for people of all ages to serve God and the church through participation in worship, teaching, evangelism, and outreach. The materials used reflect who we are as Presbyterian Christians.
This classic tradition of musical excellence at First Presbyterian is an important part of our identity as a Christian community. It has helped and enabled the church to grow both in strength and effectiveness and stands as a beacon of quality and integrity in the Nashville area.
