Missions Support Request

We support Nashville-area ministries serving a diverse community with services focused on housing, hunger alleviation, elder care, addiction issues, homelessness, youth development, and spiritual growth. Each year, First Presbyterian’s Local Missions Committee evaluates the recipient organizations. The chosen organizations/projects are a testament to our congregation’s commitment to addressing the most pressing needs of our local community, ensuring the credibility and effectiveness of our efforts to exist for the common good.

Organizations or missionaries interested in benevolence funding from First Presbyterian Church should review the process and complete the form below.

Process

  1. Each summer, we invite Organizations/Missionaries currently receiving benevolence funding to submit a funding request for the next calendar year.
  2. Other Organizations/Missionaries that make inquiry mid-year may be added to the list to receive an invitation at the same time as those funded in the current calendar year. Additions are subject to funds availability.
  3. We require written submission by the Organization/Missionary with selected supporting documentation.
  4. Some committees may require in-person interviews.
  5. Once we receive all submissions and complete all interviews, the Committees rank the submission according to the Organization’s/Missionary’s ability to fulfill the objectives of our church’s mission statement.
  6. Each fall the Missions Council assembles and approves the requests of the various Mission Committees. The committees first submit them to the church’s Finance Committee then to the Session for approval/modification.
  7. We typically disburse benevolence funding in December of each award year.

Founded in 1814, First Presbyterian was born by grace. We are an outpost of the kingdom, called to glorify the Triune God, to make known the crucified and risen Christ, and to advance the gospel of God’s free and redeeming grace. Whether you are a long-time member or are new to First Presbyterian, we would love to help you find ways to get more connected.
