Laura serves as the part-time Interim Director of Human Resources, where she is dedicated to fostering a culture of respect and appreciation for every staff member’s unique contributions to the church. In this role, she oversees hiring, benefits administration, leave management, and the continuous refinement of employment policies and procedures.
With over 30 years of leadership and executive HR experience, Laura's career includes serving as Vice President of Talent for the National Museum of African American Music. In 2014, she founded Compass HR Partners, her own consulting practice. Her diverse experience spans government roles with the State of Tennessee, leadership positions in small and emerging businesses, not-for-profit organizations, as well as national and global corporations. Laura is a proud graduate of Tulane University's Newcomb College, where she crafted a personalized major in Communications.
Laura and her husband, Mike, became members of the FPC family in 2024, following decades of faithful involvement at another church in the area. Nashville has been their home since 1977, after spending two years serving with Intervarsity Christian Fellowship. Together, they cherish their roles as parents to two children and grandparents to two grandchildren.
