Sara C. R. Hill has joined our staff as a Parish Associate to support the growing pastoral needs of our congregation. In addition to assisting with pastoral care, worship, and faith formation, she will serve as the pastoral liaison with Logos Sunday School class.
Sara grew up in West Chester, PA, and was nurtured in her faith at Westminster Presbyterian Church. She earned her BS in Communication Studies summa cum laude from West Chester University (2005) and her MDiv from Princeton Theological Seminary (2009). It was in seminary that she met her husband Austin (also a PC(USA)-ordained minister) on the third day of classes, and they were married two years later. After graduation, they moved to Fort Dodge, IA.
Sara was ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament in April 2010. She served four years as a solo pastor at United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield, IA, and nine years at First Presbyterian Church in Fort Dodge as an Associate Pastor. She served as the Moderator of the Presbytery of North Central Iowa in 2018 and as a commissioner to the 224th General Assembly. It was in Iowa that their two children, Lylah and Everett, were born.
Sara has always felt called to seek the welfare of the city where she lives. To that end, she was on numerous boards, clubs, and committees in Fort Dodge, served as an ambassador with the local Growth Alliance, the chaplain for Fort Dodge Fire & Rescue, and was named one of the region’s Top 10 Under 40 in 2021 and the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance’s 2022 Volunteer of the Year.
The Hill family moved to middle Tennessee in June 2023 and now reside in Franklin. They love raising their children in the faith at First Presbyterian Church of Nashville. As she seeks to serve the city of Franklin, she is an Ambassador with Williamson Inc., an Ambassador with the City of Franklin, a member of 100 Women Who Care Williamson County, a member of PEO chapter H, a volunteer chaplain with Williamson Fire & Rescue, and a member of the Page Middle School PTO. In addition, Sara is a Teaching Elder member-at-large of the Presbytery of Middle Tennessee and serves on the Committee for Leadership Excellence.
Outside of all of this, Sara enjoys exploring her new city, trying new restaurants, making new friends, traveling with her family, and spending time with her large extended family who also live here in middle Tennessee. She is humbled and excited to serve on this dynamic staff and use her gifts to the glory of God at First Presbyterian Church Nashville.
