Career Opportunities

First Presbyterian Church of Nashville (FPC), born of grace in 1814, is Nashville’s first organized Church in the city. The history of FPC is rich, and its roots are deep. We’re here to bring glory to God, grow in grace together, and serve the larger community in Nashville and around the world. Compelled by the love of God in Christ, FPC has long existed for the common good of all Nashvillians.

A member of the Presbyterian Church USA (PCUSA), rooted in the Reformed tradition, orthodox and evangelical in our theology, FPC yearns to be faithful to the apostolic witness of the early Church, eager to deepen our understanding of what is true, good, and beautiful, even as we seek to serve the common good in Jesus’ name.

In a culture that presents us with a tangled intersection of ethical and religious choices, we remember the Lord’s word through Jeremiah, “Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your soul” (Jer. 6:16). We seek, in Peter’s words, to give faithful expression to “the hope that lies within us” (1 Peter 3:15).

We thank the Lord for our lively and large campus, 65 beautiful acres in the heart of the Oak Hill neighborhood of Nashville. Busy every day of the week, our campus is home to Oak Hill School (OHS), the Early Preschool, over 1200 kids playing soccer in the spring and fall, summer camps, horses for therapeutic riding, our annual singer-songwriter night, Live on the Lawn, and so much more.

As we have done for over 200 years, our deepest prayer is to be a colony of heaven, loving all people to Christ who alone is our hope in both life and death.

Athletic & Recreational Activities Director

The First Presbyterian Church family is looking for an athletic director to help us create a new vision for our recreational athletic ministry. For many years, our beautiful property has been the spot of many athletic endeavors. Our desire as a family of faith is to help these recreational sports to become more layered with the mission of the gospel. The person we seek to assume this role is someone who has been deeply affected by sports and knows the opportunities sports provide to influence kids and communities. This person likes to build teams, to create new things, and finds joy in creating a new vision and plans. This role on our church staff requires the director to get involved in all the details and understand each component of athletic ministry as they help bring a new vision for athletic opportunities to this community. The person considering this opportunity for ministry feels called by God to help young people and families experience more of who God is when they play together on athletic fields. We believe this person is somewhere in our midst, and we are prayerfully seeking the one who might feel called to this unique role. If this person is you or if you know of someone who would be excited to help our church family tie the gospel to our sports program, please reach out to [email protected].

Experiences will demonstrate the way of Jesus by creating relationships and resources that strengthen parents’ connection to their children as their primary spiritual nurturers. This includes the elements of learning, knowing, and putting faith into action, thereby fulfilling the mission of the church: to know Christ, to make Him known, and exhibit His love through worship, education, and service.
