Choral Scholars Program

Forming and equipping young vocalists through sacred music and community.

First Presbyterian Church of Nashville invites collegiate vocalists to apply for the inaugural Choral Scholar’s Program. Under the direction of Dr. Raphael Bundage, Scholars will deepen their artistry, build leadership skills, and contribute meaningfully to worship.

Program Overview

The FPC Choral Scholar’s program is a distinguished opportunity for collegiate vocalists to study and perform sacred choral music under the leadership of the Music Department at First Presbyterian Church of Nashville. Choral Scholars will participate in weekly Wednesday evening rehearsals and two Sunday morning worship services each week from September 17 through November 30, 2025 (excluding Thanksgiving weekend). 

We are looking for Sopranos, Altos, Tenors and Bass vocalists. Applications are open to college students of any year. Members will be expected to attend weekly Wednesday evening rehearsals and two Sunday Morning Services.

Each selected Scholar will receive $1,050 paid bi-weekly based on participation time sheets during the Fall term.

Selection Criteria and Process 

Applicants will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Strong technical skill, tone quality, musical expression
  • Choral music experience

Expectations

  • Commitment to attend scheduled rehearsals, services
  • Commitment to professional decorum
  • Commitment to artistic leadership
  • A spirit of humility, teamwork, respect, and willingness to support the church’s worship life

  • Résumé highlighting musical experience
  • One letter of recommendation from voice instructor, choral director
