CM Elementary
1st–3rd Grade

Elementary

At this age, children have begun to form their worldview and are starting to face some of life’s challenges. Children’s Ministry seeks to partner alongside parents as we answer life’s big questions and lay the foundation for a lifetime of knowing and loving God.

Elementary Sunday School

Elementary age group includes children in 1st through 3rd grades. Elementary Sunday School occurs during the Sunday School hour (9:45-10:45 a.m.). Children’s Sunday School uses The Gospel Project curriculum, which tells God’s unfolding story of redemption throughout the Bible and aims to help kids better understand God’s character and his invitation into a loving, personal relationship with himself.

Elementary Sunday School follows a small group—large group—small group model. Children start in grade level classrooms where they participate in an opening activity intended to tee up their hearts and minds for the lesson. They then travel to a large group space where they join other grade groups for the Bible story, music and game. Finally, children return to their classrooms to discuss the Bible story before being picked up by parents.

Children 3rd grade and under must be checked in and out of Sunday School by a parent. Check-in takes place in C-Wing Lobby in Oak Hill School. Once you check in, you can walk down the hallway to drop your child off at the appropriate classroom. Both drop off and pick up occur at your child's classroom.

3rd Grade Bible Milestone

In the spring of your child’s 3rd grade year, we offer the 3rd Grade Bible Milestone. During the worship service, the senior pastor presents each third grader with a Bible from the church. This milestone is intended to recognize the role children play in the life of the church and invites them to go deeper with God’s Word and the family of faith.

Once children begin 4th grade, they will join the Preteen age group.
