PreK & Kindergarten

PreK & Kindergarten includes children 4 years old through the end of their Kindergarten year. At this age, children ask lots of questions and start to develop their worldview. Children’s Ministry seeks to partner alongside parents as we lay the foundation for a lifetime of knowing and loving God.

Worshipping with PreK & Kindergartners

Young Children and Worship occurs during both the 8:30 and 11:00 worship services and is offered as a tool to help children transition from the Nursery to the full hour of worship in the Sanctuary. Children begin worship with the congregation and are invited to join Young Children & Worship following the Blessing of the Young Disciples.

The goal of Young Children and Worship is to introduce children to the meaning and actions of corporate worship in an age-appropriate way. We offer an exciting way for children to experience God using a sensorimotor style of Bible storytelling, followed by a time of wondering about the story, and a time to respond to the stories of God through art materials and play. By worshiping in a special place apart from the congregation, young children become prepared to worship meaningfully alongside the congregation. the congregation.

Parents pick up their child after worship at Grundy Hall, located in the Children’s Ministry Wing.

PreK & Kindergarten Sunday School

PreK & Kindergarten Sunday School occurs during the Sunday School hour (9:45–10:45 a.m.). Children’s Sunday School uses The Gospel Project curriculum, which tells God’s unfolding story of redemption throughout the Bible and aims to help kids better understand God’s character and his invitation into a loving, personal relationship with himself.

PreK & Kindergarten Sunday School follows a small group—large group—small group model. Children start in grade level classrooms where they participate in an opening activity intended to tee up their hearts and minds for the lesson. They then travel to a large group space where they join other grade groups for the Bible story, music and game. Finally, children return to their classrooms to discuss the Bible story before being picked up by parents.

Check-In

Children must be checked in and out of Sunday School by a parent. Check-in takes place in the Children’s Wing lobby near the fishtank. Once you check in, you can walk to the Children’s Ministry hallway to drop your child off at the appropriate classroom. Both drop off and pick up occur at your child's classroom.

Once children begin 1st grade, they will join the Elementary age group
